Homeward Bound

A few minutes of taking down the tent here in Des Moines and I'll be on the road, east bound and down, loaded up and trucking. (props if you get the reference)

I'll be trekking across Middle America on the 4th of July, so I'm sure I'll see plenty of picnic preparations, flags and fireworks stands. Last night I watched the fireworks show at Jordan Creek Town Center in Des Moines which felt like Fairfax Corner back home, only the license plates were different.

It's kind of sad that this excellent adventure is coming to a close, but I have a mile long list of places to get back to. I'm glad I did this trip, even if some sections were a little challenging. I got to get eyes on a pretty big swath of this country. I suppose that it's appropriate that on this 4th of July, I feel pretty lucky to be born in this country, an American. I'm not usually the flag waving, chest thumping patriot, but after this drive, I can see how a lot of people feel that way. It's a pretty damn cool place, so when you get the chance, get out there. Get your own eyes on the small towns, national parks and roadside America that make us so unique. I might suggest though that you bring someone to talk to. A friend, relative, wife, husband, heck, even your dog, it worked for Steinbeck.  That way you won't burn up your cell minutes telling everyone what you see. Because you'll want to share it, that's for sure.

Okay, it's getting a little warm in here (tent), so time to strike camp, hit the road and go OnManeuvers. I promise, I'll get the pics up as soon as I can.
