Day 3: Leaving Buenos Aires to travel all day to Chile.
(Today we are getting on the cruise so I wanted to put up some pics before the radio silence on the boat. I'll edit, add, correct and put up additional when I get back.)

In case you were interested self entitled douchedom translates in to any language. This joker walked around like he owned the place (pretty sure he wasn't the president of Chile or something) bitching at people for being in the way and yelling at the airport shuttle driver to get a move on because he was hot. |
 |
Sorry for the blurry picture, but no lie, this guy's name tag said Waldo! I found Waldo. I got yelled at by another flight attendant for taking this picture. |
 |
Not the best picture, but the Santiago airport has a similar winged roof like Dulles. Also, this is the place where I got $100,000 out of the ATM. Yep, that's how I roll. |
After the two hour flight from BA, we landed in Santiago (SCL) for a several hour layover until our flight down to Punta Arenas (PUQ). While there we ate at a airport buffet, not too bad, and met TR and MB at the gate. Now the whole team, nine strong, was assembled and ready for action.

First dog sighting of many, many to come. I was curious about this one because he wasn't a service dog or a airport police dog, just seemed to be a regular pet on a walk in the terminal. |
 |
JD pointed out that Butt Crack was available on the menu at the cafe at the gate in case anyone was interested. Still not sure what this actually is. |
 |
Flying south along the Andes in Chile. The sunset on the other side of the plane was incredible but sadly no pic from me. |
 |
Cristal, the baller's choice for beer. |

Once at the Punta Arenas airport, we actually had a shuttle waiting for us with the hand held sign and everything. We then took a 20-30 minute drive to the place for the night, Hotel Ilaia. It was a pretty tight fit in the van so I had to sit in the middle of the front bench seat. Every time he shifted in to fourth and fifth gear, I got an elbow to the gut. |
A long day of travel, we wound up at the Hotel Ilaia after midnight. Thankfully the staff there are used to it and welcomed us as if it were mid day. We got settled in our rooms, showered and hit the rack. Connie, one of the staff, did show me the cool lookout room at the top of the hotel. Pretty cool place, sad that we were there only a short time. TR and MB are going to stay there a day after we get off the boat, so at least some of our group will get to see the town.
Next day was bus travel further in to Chile.
