Livingston and Bozeman

My second day in Livingston was spent mostly taking care of exciting things like laundry and gear organizing. I met up with Andreas to go riding at a place he knew of north of Bozeman in Bridger Canyon. At his suggestion we dropped my truck at the bottom and used his to shuttle up to the top of the trail. Luckily we did, because I would not have survived the uphill climb!

Andreas has a wicked sense of humor.

Very true.

The start of the Bangtail Divide trail, 7 miles overall. It's across from the Bridge Bowl ski area.

Sweet mountain views back towards the Clyde Park valley.

My mountain bike trail still had snow on it in July. Does yours?

Looking towards Bridger peak.

2 miles of uphill followed by 5 miles of twisting downhill singletrack.

Reaaaaallly glad we did the shuttle.
After the bike ride we grabbed a bite at the Garage. Cool little place in Bozeman that has menus that use license plates as covers. I had a pretty good turkey burger with green chilis and a magnificent chocolate shake.

I headed back to Livingston to get cleaned up . I grabbed dinner at Mark's In and Out. I tried to get a night time picture of the building but almost as I reached for the camera they turned out the lights. Luckily I did get a few pics of Livingston at night.

I caught up with a BNSF freight train heading up the incline towards Bozeman Pass and Livingston on the other side. There was another freight train waiting in a siding a little further up the hill. On the other side a coal drag was making its way up to the summit as well.

If you can zoom in, it warns of high crosswinds in the Livingston area. It really was and was difficult to keep it between the lines.
In case you can't tell already, I really like Livingston and the Murray.

I got some sleep that night and prepared for the trip down south to Yellowstone the next day. Yellowstone and the adventures after are worthy of several posts of their own. Stay tuned.
