Fire Tower Day Two

More pics, these of Fire Tower, Missoula, across the Continental Divide, Grant-Kohrs Ranch, Bozeman, across the CD again, and back to the Tower:

Early morning fog in the valley. It's hard to sleep in when you've got nothing but glass around you and you're above the trees.

This guy was there both mornings.

Not far from Seeley Lake towards Missoula is the Greenough-Potomac area. This one bay fire station was open with a truck parked outside. I thought someone might be there but I figured out they were on a call.

That's an Oskosh Engine on the left and a Peterbilt Tanker, Tender, whatever, on the right. Looked to be about 2-2500 gallons. By the space inside, I figured that there was a Type 6/brush truck missing and out on the call.

The Oshie.

Surprisingly well established company for being in the middle of nowhere. They even have a pretty decent website. It looks as they are supported in part by the Paws Up Lodge that is close by.

Oshie pump panel. I could have gotten water if I needed to.

The Pete Tanker/Tender.

Little rascals playing outside of the firehouse.

Another Stockmans, this time in Missoula.

Breakfast at The Catalyst Cafe.

One of you dear readers will have to go check it out and report back.

On the Grant-Kohrs Ranch, a National Park Service run historic site. The little door at bottom left is for the ranch dogs to get in to bunkhouse row.

G-K Ranch mechanized equipment. Much of the ranch work is still done with horses.

The Ranch House.

Railroad siding for the Ranch.

First spotted smoke, on the east side of Bozeman. I would have chased it, but I had an appointment to get to.

Appointment made! Again I beat the GPS.

For the second time in one day.

Meth is quite the problem out here evidently.

I didn't make it back to the Fire Tower for the sunset but this is from the road.

A just before dark shot of Salmon Lake and the Montana Island Lodge.
I'll pick back up with the next day a little later on. I'm headed out to go OnManeuvers in Banff.
